BOOKS
While there are several online resources, don't forget to see if your hospital has a Resource Library where books and pamphlets can be read. Check out your local library too.
I hope to have a larger list of books as time passes [reccomendations?].
CD & Book - In The Hospital Program
by Peter Alsop & Bill Harley
This world class program was developed to help children, families and professionals deal with the challenges and fear that a child facing an illness or a trip to the hospital can have. It works.
Program includes the following topics:
If It Doesn't Have Me - separation from family and friends;
A Friend Like Me - emotional support;
The Quadrapus Story - about an octopus with four legs;
Let's Face It! - the reality of physical disabilities;
My Little Clock - asking for respect;
Inspection! - invasion of privacy;
Samit And the Dragon - using imagery to help heal;
Needle-ee, Noodle-ee - if kids ran the hospital!;
New Ground - loss from a different perspective;
The Castle Story - While I'm Sleepin' - for children afraid to go to sleep;
Take A Step - big jobs start with one small step.

Comment: A great book with lots of information about possible long term effects of cancer treatment. I highly reccomend this book. Get one for yourself, the local library and give one to your primary caregiver. Yes, I think it is that good.
